Comments about Milk Powder Buttermilk, 24 oz:
I live overseas, so needless to say it is hard to find certain things, particularly the staples for good southern cooking! I decided to give the Bob's red mill buttermilk a try after reading an article that claimed powdered buttermilk was indistinguishable from fresh in recipes, and boy am I glad I did! It is WONDERFUL! I make it 1/2 or 1 cup at a time when I need it - my lavender buttermilk scones are the talk of the office, and my biscuits taste just like my grandmother's!
Because it tastes so good, and works so well in recipes, I think it will become my staple even when I'm back in a place where I can get fresh buttermilk - I've always struggled with buying a carton and not using all of it before it goes bad! now I can have it whenever I need it, no running to the store, no waste, and no funny flavor from substituting regular milk with vinegar!
