We have four children ages four and under. We have used this as a protectant and healing agent at the first sign of a diaper rash for our babies for 3 years now. You can't find anything better for diaper rashes. Don't waste your money on anything else.

I purchased the lanolin for my son who has severely dry skin thanks to bad genes and chlorine exposure thanks to swim team. Before I get to the smell let me describe the consistency-goopy. I know thats not a word but that's what it is. The product description calls it like vaseline-not any vaseline I've ever tried. When you get past the goopyness, its very tacky and hard to rub in. I've used cold pressed raw organic shea which has a natural odor too,but atleast it dissipates. Lanolin smells every bit like the sheep it came from. It has a funky odor when you open the jar. After rubbing it on my elbows, the odor got worse. I guess the heat from the friction made it more aromatic. Either way, it stinks. This was just my hands and both elbows; I can't imagine the smell if it were all over. And I had to use loofah to scrub it off; the lanolin wouldn't just wash off that'd be too easy. I used Dr Bronner peppermint body wash (which has a very powerful scent) and still had to scrub each arm and hands twice. Bottom line, unless you and those around you enjoy the smell of the barnyard and you like tacky goop, do not use this product. I can;t speak to all lanolin, but this one definitely stinks.
