I have tried tampons for years but after having kids, and not being able to use tampons after I was introduce to Instead. I have used this product for years. It is somewhat difficult to find where I live so I have to stock up. I am very heavy overnight and pads do not always work for me. I am able to use this overnight without any problems.

Just an FYI for future purchasers: I ordered this product with high hopes - I SO wanted it to work. However, after purchasing from SOAP I discovered that the side of the box reads "DO not use INSTEAD if you are using an IUD, as there is a risk of dislodging, displacing or removing the IUD by pulling on the IUD string when removing INSTEAD." I've been using Instead on a fairly regular basis for about 15 years now. Overall, it is a very good product. I have greatly appreciated it for a long time, though I will say that after my last child things changed and it doesn't work as well for me now. The first part of the review will focus on before this baby.

Pros:
Solid protection - rarely leaked
Once you've gotten the hang of it, it is easy
Can be left in for a long time (up to 12 hours - really!)

Cons:
Takes a while to get the hang of it
It is really messy at insertion and removal times while you're learning how to use it
Not sold in a lot of places, so I've been forced to order online lately

In honesty, I can say that with Instead, my periods went from being a real hassle, to being a manageable nuisance. I loved that it could be worn for so long without needing to be changed, even on my heavy days. Since my last child, though, it doesn't work as well for me. I assume something changed during birth, as now Instead leaks without fail. My recommendation to anyone is always to try it, using a pad for backup for the first few periods while you get used to placing it correctly. If it works for you, you will LOVE it.

I started using Instead Softcups when I was about 14, and I would never go back to pads and tampons. The softcups are easy to use, but like the first time using tampons can be a little intimidating. Softcups hold more fluid than pads and tampons, so I can get more done during the day without worrying about leaking and stopping every 2-3 hours to find a bathroom. I can swim in the pool, be intimate with my husband, and feel confident that I'm not going to bleed everywhere! I wouldn't be without them.

I used this product, and was intrigued, but not too impressed. I didn't know about the Keeper or Diva cup yet. Since it gets compressed when taking it out, it is pretty messy, but manageable. I don't like that they have it as a disposable product, because it can be washed and reused, since it is silicone.
